Frequently Asked Questions
Utkarsh SFB leads with 8.00% (general) / 8.50% (senior) on 1–2 year deposits. Among private banks, Bandhan Bank (7.55%) and Yes Bank (7.50% at 18m) are top performers. For NBFCs, Shriram Finance tops with 7.60% (general) / 8.10% (senior) at 24 months.
Per HDFC Bank's official revision dated 6 March 2026: 1-year = 6.25% (general) / 6.75% (senior). Peak: 6.45% (general) / 6.95% (senior) at 18–21 months. The 3yr1d–4yr7m band was raised to 6.50% (general) / 7.00% (senior) in this revision. Verify at hdfcbank.com before investing.
NBFC FDs are NOT DICGC insured. However, AAA-rated NBFCs like Bajaj Finance (CRISIL/ICRA AAA) and Mahindra Finance carry very low credit risk. Invest only in NBFCs rated AA+ or above. Limit individual NBFC FD amounts and diversify across institutions. For maximum safety, prefer bank FDs within the Rs. 5 Lakh DICGC limit.
Form 15G (below 60 years) and Form 15H (senior citizens 60+) are self-declarations that your total income is below the taxable limit, preventing TDS deduction on FD interest. Submit these at the start of each financial year (April 1). Note: the interest is still taxable when you file returns — these forms only prevent TDS at source.
With the RBI pausing the repo rate at 5.25% (February 2026), rates are stable but expected to trend lower later this year. Experts recommend locking in 2–3 year tenures now. Special tenures — PNB 666 days, SBI Amrit Vrishti 444 days, Canara 555 days — offer premiums over standard rates. Ladder across 1yr, 2yr and 3yr FDs for balancing liquidity and returns.
