NASA astronaut Sunita Williams shared a Diwali message from the International Space Station, commemorating the festival 260 miles above the Earth. In her message, Williams, who has been on the ISS for nearly five months, spoke about her Hindu background and her father’s dedication to passing down cultural traditions. She expressed appreciation for President Biden and Vice President Harris joining the Diwali celebrations, emphasizing the festival’s themes of hope and positivity. This distinctive greeting coincided with the Diwali celebration at the White House. Williams, who has been on the ISS since June with astronaut Butch Wilmore, will carry on with her mission work until they return in February 2024.
