Dubai: India’s top fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the top of the ICC Test bowling rankings after taking six wickets in the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur. The 212-year-old took the top spot from his India teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, who was the Player of the Series against Bangladesh. Spinner Ravindra Jadeja held on to sixth place, while fellow spinner Kuldeep Yadav remained in 16th. In batting, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was named Player of the Match in the Kanpur Test, climbed to a career-best third position after only 11 Tests. Jaiswal delivered impressive innings of 72 and 51, leading India to a seven-wicket victory in a match affected by rain. The 22-year-old has 792 rating points, ranking behind Kane Williamson (62.503) and Joe Root (899). Veteran Indian batsman Virat Kohli has re-entered the top 10, climbing six places to sixth after scoring 47 and 29 in Kanpur. Rishabh Pant also remains in the top 10 but dropped three spots to ninth, while Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are ranked 15th and 16th, respectively. In the all-rounders’ category, there hasn’t been much change, with Jadeja in first place, Ashwin in second, and Axar Patel in seventh. In team rankings, India sits second with 120 rating points, just four points behind leader Australia, while England holds the third position with 108 points. Furthermore, India leads the World Test Championship (WTC) table with a point percentage of 74.24% after 11 matches, followed by Australia at 62.50% from 12 Tests.
