Apple Incorporated. has greatly increased its iPhone exports from India, showing a one-third rise in the six months prior to September. The company exported almost $6 billion in iPhones made in India, representing a significant increase from the last year. This trend indicates that yearly exports might surpass the anticipated $10 billion for fiscal 2024, according to Bloomberg. In an effort to diversify its manufacturing away from China, Apple is quickly increasing its operations in India, taking advantage of local subsidies, a talented workforce, and technological advancements. Three significant suppliers—Foxconn Technology Group from Taiwan, Pegatron Corp. , and Tata Electronics from India—are engaged in the assembly of iPhones in southern India. Foxconn’s facility near Chennai is the largest contributor, accounting for 50% of India’s iPhone exports. The electronics manufacturing division of the Tata Group exported approximately $1.7 billion in iPhones from its factory in Karnataka between April and September, according to sources. Tata purchased this division from Wistron Corp. Last year, it became the first Indian assembler of Apple’s most popular product. iPhones make up the majority of India’s smartphone exports and contributed to this product category being the leading export to the US, totaling $2.88 billion in the first five months of this fiscal year, based on data from the federal trade ministry.
